Have you ever looked at what you had and thought, “Lord, this isn’t enough?”
What if the very thing God wants to use to bring you through is already in your hands, but you are overlooking it?
Maybe you don’t realize that God is trying to show you that you already have what you need to bring you through that difficult situation or to combat the enemy. Yes, I say “the enemy” because we know this life brings challenges far beyond us—challenges only God can work out.
We often tell ourselves that what we have is too small for God to use. Maybe you feel like you don’t have enough, or perhaps you cannot even see what God has placed in your hands yet.
Sometimes we lack the confidence or motivation to use that little talent, idea, or skill that God has given us. Yet all God wants is for us to surrender it to Him so that He can take it and multiply it.
Have you ever looked at your life and thought, “God, I don’t have enough for You to use?”
Sometimes I find myself looking beyond God’s calling. Instead of using what He has already placed in my hands, I begin looking at other opportunities or other paths that may not even be His will for my life during that season.
Yet I have learned that the very thing we are running from may be the very thing God is calling us to surrender to Him.
Could it be that the very thing you’ve been avoiding is the very thing God wants to use?
One of the greatest examples of this is found in John chapter 6.
The disciples looked at the crowd and immediately focused on what they lacked. Thousands of people had gathered around Jesus, and there was no way they could provide enough food for everyone.
Jesus asked Philip,
“Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat?”
The Bible tells us that Jesus asked this to test him, because He already knew what He would do.
That is encouraging because it reminds us that God already knows what He will do in our situation. Long before we see the answer, He already has a plan.
Then Andrew said,
“There is a lad here, who hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?” (John 6:9)
From a human perspective, Andrew’s question made sense.
What are five loaves and two fish among thousands of people?
But Jesus was never limited by what the disciples saw.
The first thing Jesus did was have the people sit down. Then He took the loaves, gave thanks, blessed them, and distributed them to the disciples to give to the multitude. He did the same with the fish.
Everyone ate until they were full.
When the meal was over, Jesus told the disciples to gather the leftovers, and they filled twelve baskets with the fragments that remained.
What are your five loaves and two fish?
Could it be your testimony?
Could it be your gift?
Could it be your willingness to obey?
Could it be a dream God has placed in your heart?
The little boy gave what he had, and Jesus multiplied it.
I believe that little boy did not go home empty-handed. He witnessed one of the greatest miracles recorded in Scripture because he was willing to surrender what he had.
God took something that looked small and used it to bless thousands of people.
The same God still works that way today.
God can take our little and make it much.
He can take our testimony, our gift, our calling, our willingness, and multiply it for His glory.
What have you been holding back because you believed it was too small for God to use?
As we learned in Part 1, God asked Moses, “What is that in thine hand?” (Exodus 4:2).
Today, He asks us the same question:
What is in your hand?
Whatever it is, place it in His hands.
God knows how to multiply what we think is too small.
To God be the glory for the great things He has done.
